Gearing Up for Tailgating Season
Football season is just around the corner, which means that you'll soon be enjoying some good food and good company in the stadium parking lot. Tailgating is a beloved American pastime, considered a very important part of the whole sports game experience. Serious tailgaters are well-versed in the art of a good tailgate party; the rivalry between fellow tailgaters can be just as intense as that of the opposing sports teams! Everyone wants to have the best food, the best gear, and the most elaborate setting. Get a leg up on the competition with these cool tailgating tips and tools.
At the very least, you'll need a large, durable mat on which to lay out all of your food. Waterproof is best - it'll ensure that you won't end up with a soggy mess if it starts raining. The Mega Picnic Mat (pictured left) is the perfect solution - you can use it as a tablecloth, seating surface or rug.
Tailgaters are often out in the elements for hours before the game - you have to get to the parking lot early to get a good spot. Make sure you're warm and comfortable with the Stadium Seat and Blanket set - set up the seat on the back of your truck and wrap yourself in the blanket and you'll be good to go.
Of course, the most serious tailgaters will settle for nothing less than the best - and that means a full spread on a table. Get one that folds up compact with a carrying case and built-in seating for maximum convenience. You can choose from plastic, wood or aluminum models. The Wooden Folding Picnic Table (pictured left) even comes with an umbrella. All three can seat four people and hold up to 600 pounds. Add a couple Portable Sports Chairs or other portable outdoor seating to either end for a larger party.
Make sure you've got a high quality cooler, beverage flask and BBQ tools as well - after all, the food is the main event! A great choice is the Tailgater Picnic Set on Wheels for 4. This fully loaded picnic trolley has a telescopic handle, rugged wheels, large insulated food and beverage compartment and detachable utensil carrier. It comes complete with plates, utensils, acrylic goblets, cotton napkins, a cutting board, a cheese knife, and even salt & pepper shakers. Bring hot beverages such as coffee, hot chocolate, cider or even soup in the Kona Coffee Flask, an insulated multi-purpose vacuum flask with its own duffel and shoulder strap. Round out your tailgating tool collection with the Stainless BBQ Set, a stylish 9-piece tool set in its own black canvas carrying case.
Although this is by no means a complete list of tailgating necessities, these items will ensure that you can compete with the best of the seasoned pros. For our previous article on tailgating, click here. If you'd like more detailed tips, recipes and information, visit www.tailgating.com.
